The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) operates an Expression of Interest (EOI) system to select individuals with skilled work experience, recent graduates, and individuals looking to invest in a business in Manitoba.  Candidates are encouraged to complete an Expression of Interest submission through the MPNP website, and then receive a ranking based upon the following factors:

  • Language ability

  • Age

  • Education

  • Work experience

  • Manitoba adaptability – including points for having a close friend or relative in Manitoba, for completing studies in Manitoba, or work experience in Manitoba.  Note that points will be deducted from your profile for having worked or studied in another province in Canada.

Skilled Workers in Manitoba

• Currently working in Manitoba and have been offered a permanent job by your current Manitoba employer;

• Possess the qualifications for the position being offered to you, including training/education and any required licence or certification;

• Have the English or French skills to fulfill the duties of your proposed job description;

• Your connection to Manitoba must be stronger than the ties you may have to another province in Canada;

• You must intend and plan to live, work and establish yourself in Manitoba.

International Student Working Graduates

• You attended an authorized education or training program at a public or registered private vocational, post-secondary institution in Manitoba. (Excludes language programs);

• Your academic/vocational program was a minimum of one year full-time;

• You successfully completed your program and were awarded a diploma, degree or certificate;

• You have been continuously working at least six months for the same employer who has offered you a permanent full-time job in Manitoba

• You have a valid post-graduation work permit;

• Your connection to Manitoba is stronger than your ties to any another Province in Canada;

• You intend and plan to live, work and establish yourself in Manitoba;

• You have a sufficient level English or French to conduct the roles and responsibilities of the position being offered to you.

Skilled Workers Overseas with Manitoba Support

• Intention to settle in Manitoba;

• Score at least 60 points on the Manitoba Eligibility factors;

• Connection to Manitoba which can include:

  • Close relative

  • sister or brother

  • niece or nephew (ex: child of your sister or brother)

  • aunt or uncle (ex: brother or sister of your mother or father)

  • first cousin (ex: child of your aunt or uncle)

  • mother or father

  • grandmother or grandfather

  • Distant relatives

  • Friends

Skilled Workers Overseas with Manitoba Experience

• Intention to settle in Manitoba;

• Score at least 60 points on the Manitoba Eligibility factors;

• Meet the requirements under either “past employment” OR “past education” as follows:

• Past employment in Manitoba:

  • You have previously worked for a Manitoba employer for at least six consecutive months on a full-time basis;

  • Be able to provide a letter of reference from your previous Manitoba employer on company letterhead;

  • Be able to submit a copy of a work permit proving you worked in Manitoba.

• Past education in Manitoba:

  • Proof you attended and completed an authorized education or training program at a public, or registered private vocational, post-secondary institution in Manitoba. (Does include language programs);

  • Be able to submit a copy of your study permit(s), your academic transcripts and the certificate, diploma or degree you received for completing the program.

Skilled Workers Overseas with Manitoba Invitation

• Intention to settle in Manitoba;

• Score at least 60 points on the Manitoba Eligibility factors;

• Letter of Invitation received directly from the MPNP after being interviewed by a program officer during a recruitment mission or exploratory visit;

• Be between the ages of 21 to 45;

• Minimum of a one-year, post-secondary education or training program for which you received a diploma, degree or certificate;

• Have at least two years of full-time paid work experience in the past five years;

• Demonstrate your ability to find a job in Manitoba in an occupation related to your work experience;

• Minimum of a CLB 5 in all areas of an approved language test.
